Confession time: hipster edition
This is mildly embarrassing, but also amusing, so I thought I would share:
Up until a number of years ago, when people referred to “Williamsburg” as being a haven for hipsters, I thought they were referring to Colonial Williamsburg. This was mildly confusing – when hipsters say they like vintage clothing I didn’t think they meant 1740’s – but this fact, if true, would not be the weirdest thing about hipster subculture. So I just sort of rolled with it.
In the years since I became aware that Williamsburg was also a neighborhood of Brooklyn, the above paragraph has gone from misguided belief to desperate wish.
